Organisation and structure of AEA

Full members

The association relies upon its members, which are in fact its very backbone.
Annually, more than 500 members share their collective expertise, their experiments, their vision of contemporary economic phenomena.
Administration, management are carried out by the AEA council, responsible for thematic scientific working groups and correspondents.

AEA council

The council deals with issues concerning the general policy of the association, which it considers necessary for furthering its aims. It is in particular responsible for the adequacy of the choices of topics and methods to the AEA aims. It is a guarantee of professionalism and scientific value of activities, conferences and publications.

Past presidents take an active part in AEA decisions: Robert Guesnerie, professor at the “Collège de France”, and Jean H. P. Paelinck, professor emeritus of the Erasmus University of Rotterdam.

Thematic Scientific Working Groups

Six thematic scientific working groups are attached to the association: Finance, Employment, Health, Regional Problems, Commodity Markets, International Economic Issues. The members in charge of each thematic scientific working group are responsible for the choice of relevant conference topics.

Correspondents

Correspondents facilitate the diffusion of AEA current research actions throughout their region or country.
They are about 50, mainly representative important French universities, but also of private and public research centres.
About 20 countries are moreover represented in the association. Each European country has a correspondent, and on each continent AEA has a person in charge.

Organisation of frequent meetings, seminars, brainstormings and conferences

About 100 conferences, treating of relevant and timely major economic problems, have been organised by the AEA, each gathering about 100 participants. Those two-day conferences include contributed paper and poster sessions.

Publications and books...

...Publications of an international character on problems of current relevance (selected proceedings of conferences, articles in specialised journals, special books) are also permanently realised.
